ChangeWorks Waste and Litter Assembly

On Friday 4th March at Assembly, Arleen Sinclair from ChangeWorks successfully challenged P4-7 pupils to think about how we can reduce waste by recycling and re-using and how to make sure our playground and school are Grade A Litter Free. Our ECO team will meet next week (Waste Week) to discus and decide how to take forward improvements.

Scotland's Climate Change March: Meadows November 28th 12pm

Some members of our community might be interested in supporting the upcoming Friends of the Earth Scotland Climate Change march at the Meadows November 28th 12pm

"Show your colours for climate, justice & jobs.

Join the worldwide movement marching for a better future.
Ahead of the UN climate change negotiations in Paris,
we’ll stand up for people affected by rising global temperatures
and demand that world leaders agree an ambitious deal.

A low carbon society will create green jobs, improve our transport and food systems and protect our land, air and water.
Scotland needs to show its colours in Paris and beyond
with strong action on climate change.

Wear your brightest colours as Scotland marches on this weekend of global action.

Everyone is encouraged to attend so please invite your friends, families and followers.

The march is organised by Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS), a diverse coalition of organisations in Scotland campaigning together on climate change. Coalition members include environment, faith and international development organisations, trade and student unions and community groups.

To have a fun and successful march, we are relying on volunteers to help us steward. Could you help us on the day? For more information send an email to Paul - paul@stopclimatechaosscotland.org

Pitching to Save the Planet - Please Vote Now

http://www.virginmediabusiness.co.uk/pitch-to-rich/start-up/global-surface-intelligence-ltd

Sciennes' parent Nigel Douglas is posing the question to Sir Richard Branson, do you “Want to Save the Planet?” via his “Pitch to Rich 2015” competition.

Nigel is Founder and CEO of Global Surface Intelligence (GSi) and seeks your help in voting for his pitch to win Virgin Business' exciting competition. Please share via social media networks and vote now to help Nigel's innovative software mitigate climate change.

We have developed a very powerful software platform which provides ‘Big data’ predictive analytics of satellite and other data. Using this platform, we can now observe our planet, more clearly and in new ways and on new scales. Using it, we have brought to market our first products which reduce costs and add value to a massive $1.2 trillion timber market. Put simply, we can tell how much timber is in a forest; which ones have grown quickest over time, and we can identify deforestation or even forest degradation. Our data covers the entire surface on the planet from the present year back to 2001 and this is the first time in the field of science this has been achieved. Our methods are totally unique and they allow us to deliver data cheaper, faster, better than is possible by any other means. We can solve real business problems the industry faces, and the only thing stopping us, is people not knowing about us. Winning this competition would change all that.

Our processing capabilities and analytics are unrivaled and right at the forefront of innovation. Our software platform has endless applications that will help businesses in any sector. The uniqueness of our data has enabled us to open up opportunities in six continents and all this from my kitchen table. Our data is also crucial to monitor our changing ecosystem and the effects of climate change and we have only scratched the surface of our capabilities. We are a small company that has developed unique technology that could be applied to help mitigate climate change. We need help to be heard and that is why we deserve to win.

GSi would really like your Vote. http://goo.gl/O4vPng To progress through the competition, we really need your vote and it will only take 5 seconds of your time. Please vote now. Many thanks.
                                                                     Nigel Douglas, Sciennes Parent

Ragbag Appeal £201.40 for the Playground

Thank you to all the families who supported the Eco Team's recent Ragbag Appeal on Wednesday 5th November which raised a fantastic total of £201.40!

All money raised will be used for Eco developments in the school playground, decided by the Eco team. One suggestion is for a new Litter bin.

A parent has raised concern over the business model used by Ragbags. We have passed this concern to Eco Schools and will reconsider our use of the scheme.
